Ever wondered how much you can drop on Amazon with a single purchase? What are the limits of Amazon and how much are people willing to enter their credit card information online for? For the average person, Amazon is a convenient way to find deals and get essentials delivered to your door. For others, it seems they also enjoy the convenience of online shopping for hundred-thousand-dollar products, up to a quarter of a million, in fact. While you may shop Amazon for house slippers, others are shopping Amazon for thousand-dollar earrings, delivered conveniently to their mailbox. Here is a list of the most expensive items on Amazon 2024, which by the way, weren't as easy as you would expect to find.
What were you expecting to see at the top of the list? For me, certainly, a carpet wasn’t the first thing that came to mind. This English rug is advertised as a one-of-a-kind authentic Axminster rug, one of the finest quality of British carpets known for their durability and craftsmanship. It’s 18 feet (535cm) wide, 30 feet (934 cm) long, and it was hand-knotted meaning that it took whoever made this a heck of a long time to finish. In that sense, it is very much a piece of art and looks like it was made for a castle.
Coming in second we have another antique European rug (and I thought Turkish carpets were expensive). This rug is also hand-knotted from wool and is considered a unique piece of artwork. We can say that it does have a very unique look to it and I believe the difference in price is concerned with the size considering this carpet is 12 feet (391cm) wide and 21 feet (647cm) long. Again, a massive piece of artwork that must have taken this early-century artisan a lot of trouble to make.
I’m not going to lie, I had to look up who these people were and I was surprised to see that they were all still living. I had imagined the price came from never being able to secure an autograph from them again. In any case, I’ll give a quick rundown for the others like me who don’t watch baseball. For baseball fans, I’m sorry. Mike Trout plays for the Los Angeles Angels and is widely regarded as the best baseball player of his time with too many awards to list. Albert Pujols is a Dominican-American who was a player for the St.Louis Cardinals and is known as the most prolific hitter of the 21st century. Shohei Ohtani is a Japanese baseball player who recently signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers for a whopping 700 million smackeroonies. You could say he’s a pretty big deal.
Can we talk about how wealthy you have to be for this to not be a special enough purchase to want to do it in store? In any case, these hand-crafted emerald earrings are a whopping 4 ct each with a few natural diamonds sprinkled above them. This particular store has some of the most interesting jewelry pieces I’ve seen with more than one product coming in at over 100k, leading us to our next item.
This massive rock is shaped in 18k white gold and is said to be natural, and extremely rare. This is the first on our list that actually has reviews, 5 to be exact and they were hilarious. Someone left a comment saying, “Bought it it because it’s really affordable.. I gave it to Fatima, my girlfriend. She wore it for one day and then she threw it away in garbage. She can’t be wearing same ring on for more than a one day 😩 💍.”
To avoid being repetitive: After these came another vintage European table carpet for $80,000, Amazon diamond studs for $66,500 (who knew Amazon had their own diamonds), and another oriental rug for $60,000.
This is no ordinary tv cabinet because it's multifunctional. You can use it as storage,too. Plus, it’s made in such a way that you can’t see any wires. My eyes fail to see why this TV stand comes with the price tag that it does and it doesn’t appear to be made by any well-known designer, so I’m at a loss for words. (It has since become unavailable).
This desk is by the brand Tapiva whose Amazon store has multiple listings of very expensive furniture, however I couldn’t find any information on the brand itself. It’s nice looking, but is it 50 thousand dollars of nice? I guess that depends on who you ask. There was so little information about this desk so I have nothing further to note other than it has a nice design but nothing legendary.
I honestly expected artwork to be at the top of the list. This one-of-a-kind painting is by self-taught Caribbean artist Ryan Williams. Mr. Williams appears to have had some of his own exhibitions however I was unable to access the website to find out more. Despite that, this is considered a collectible cultural painting and I believe it’s name is “Going To The Market.”
This sculpture was crafted by an artist named Rudolfo Bucacio who was inspired by the idea of human beauty and attractiveness. It was said that he contemplated the reasons why the ugliest men find themselves with the most beautiful women and theorized that attractiveness fades into the background when the partner has qualities such as intelligence, reliability, and loyalty. Thus, his sculpture illustrates his theory and he has named it “beauty and the beast.” This artist has quite a few of these types of sculptures, all around the same price range but with different erotic themes such as “the techno lover.” It is an interesting way to illustrate the love of technology, I must say.
The oddest thing is that following this research, I see $10,000 rings and I think "Oh, that's not bad." Now that we all know how much one can spend on Amazon, we can rest easy.
